A right-arm opening bowler who swings the ball late, Chadd Sayers came from obscurity with an incredible 2012-13 season to put himself on the verge of Ashes selection. Sayers topped the Sheffield Shield wicket tally with 48 at 18.52 to be named South Australia’s player of the season and while a Test call-up didn’t come, he picked up 36 wickets the following season and then impressed playing for Australia A in 2014 to be knocking on the door of national selectors.   He was limited to five Shield appearances in 2014-15 due to ankle surgery, before bouncing back last Shield season with 32 wickets in eight games – the reward for which was selection for Australia’s tour of New Zealand earlier this year.   Sayers was also picked to play for Australia A against India A in Brisbane last September, capturing six wickets in the two first-class matches.   He claimed an 11-wicket haul against Tasmania early in the Shield season to again thrust his name in front of national selectors.   Chadd is the second member of his family to play for South Australia, with his father Dean having played three matches in the early 1980s.   His hard work...
