Ashton Turner

Ashton Turner

An allrounder who was picked as Australia’s leading spinner ahead of Ashton Agar at the 2012 Under-19 World Cup, namesake Ashton Turner picked up a rookie contract with Western Australia for the 2012-13 season. He made his one-day debut that summer, picking up the wicket of George Bailey and scoring 51 with the bat, before he made his first-class debut as part of an Australian XI that played against Sussex during the 2013 Ashes tour. Turner was in the UK on a Hampshire scholarship and he returned to the Warriors the following summer in good form, playing five Sheffield Shield matches as WA made the final. He was one of the better players for the National Performance Squad in the 2014 winter series, posting scores of 73, 59 and 41. Turner's good form for Perth Scorchers saw him picked to play Sri Lanka in the T20 series in February 2017. In December 2018, Turner was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the player auction for the 2019 IPL.
